Graduate Student Successes under Dr. Meston

The Sexual Psychophysiology Laboratory at the University of Texas at Austin is an extremely productive and prolific research lab. Graduate students work on multiple studies simultaneously starting in their first year of graduate studies and often collaborate with other lab members on publications and conference presentations. Dr. Meston has a record of graduating highly successful Ph.D.s. Her first graduate student, Penny Frohlich, changed supervisors after three years in the clinical program to work under Dr. Meston’s mentorship. At that time, Penny had no publications, no professional research presentations, and no research awards. Under Dr. Meston’s mentorship, she defended her dissertation four years later and left for internship with eight publications, ten conference presentations, and four prestigious research awards including the 1999 Best Manuscript Award presented by the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health for a manuscript she co-authored and published in 2005 with Dr. Meston, and the 2002 Lee Willerman Award for Research Excellence for a manuscript she co-authored and published in 2000 with Dr. Meston. Dr. Frohlich now has a highly successful clinical practice in Austin Texas where she specializes in sex therapy and couples treatment.
