We’re always excited to welcome motivated students and researchers to the lab. Whether you’re an undergraduate looking for your first research experience, a prospective graduate student, or a postdoc interested in discussing future opportunities, we would love to hear from you. Below you’ll find how to reach out depending on where you are in your training.

Undergraduate research assistants
We welcome undergraduate volunteers interested in gaining hands-on research experience in behavioral neuroscience. Students are involved in animal behavioral testing, and depending on interest and experience, may also be trained in techniques like brain sectioning, immunohistochemistry, and in situ hybridization. If you are an undergraduate interested in volunteering as a research assistant, please fill out the application below!
Time commitment: 12 hours per week, plus one weekend per month.
Course credit: Available after a two-semester commitment in the lab.

Graduate Students
We recruit PhD students through several UT Austin graduate programs, including the Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Program, Pharmacology and Toxicology, and Psychology. If you’re interested in joining the lab as a graduate student, please apply through one of these programs and reach out directly to discuss shared research interests.
To inquire if we are accepting new graduate students: Email Dr. Orsini at caitlin.orsini@austin.utexas.edu with a brief note about your background and research interests. Please include your CV/Resume.

Postdoctoral Associates
Dr. Orsini is always interested in discussing postdoctoral opportunities with dedicated trainees whose interests align with the lab’s research on risk-based decision making, hormonal regulation, and substance use. UT Austin’s Waggoner Center also offers postdoctoral fellowship support for qualified candidates.
To inquire about potential openings for postdoctoral opportunities: Email Dr. Orsini at caitlin.orsini@austin.utexas.edu with a CV and a brief statement of research interests.

We will try to respond all applications and inquiries within two weeks of their submission.
