October 2014: Elvis Rakotomalala, Ph.D. student in the Department of Animal Biology at the University of Antananarivo, began his dissertation research on the nocturnal lemur communities in and around the Kirindy Mitea National Park, including at Ankoatsifaka.

Forest Fire

August 2012: The local communities worked with Madagascar National Parks and the Ankoatsifaka team to help fight a forest fire that was difficult to control due to the unusually high amounts of dead wood in the area after Cyclone Fanele.
