A Day at the Center
(1) Getting Here
The Children’s Research Center (CRC) is located on the north side of UT campus in the Seay Psychology Building—a large, five-story orange and gray, brick building on the corner of Speedway and Dean Keeton.

The entrance to the CRC is on the west side of Speedway, just north of Dean Keeton. Park in the spots marked F87 Permit Parking. Enter through the middle set of double doors. A research assistant will greet you in the CRC lobby, where you will be given a parking permit with today’s correct date. The parking permit must be visible from your dashboard, or you will get ticketed. Unfortunately, if you receive a parking citation, we will not be able to cover the cost, but rather, you will have to pay for the ticket.

Routes on Capital Metro Buses
- The stop for bus 5 northbound from South Austin is east of Speedway on Dean Keeton.
- The stop for bus 7 is on the northwest corner of San Jacinto and Dean Keeton.
- The stop for bus 21 is on Dean Keeton.
- The stop for bus 22 is on the northeast corner of Speedway and Dean Keeton.
Directions on S. Mopac (Loop 1) coming from the north
Take the 35th Street exit. Turn right on 35th Street and continue to Guadalupe Street. Turn right onto Guadalupe Street and continue to the stoplight at 27th Street and turn left. Continue to the stop sign at Speedway and turn right. Park on the west side of Speedway in the spots marked F87.
Directions on N. Mopac (Loop 1) coming from the south
Take the Windsor Road exit. Turn left onto Windsor Road. Windsor Road turns into 24th Street. Take 24th Street to Guadalupe Street and turn left. Continue to the stoplight at 27th street and turn right. Continue to the stop sign at Speedway and turn right. Park on the west side of Speedway in the spots marked F87.
Directions on I-35 S. coming from the north
Take Exit 235A University of Texas/MLK/15th Street. Turn right on MLK Blvd. Stay to the right. Immediately veer right onto Red River Street. Continue to the stoplight at Dean Keeton (formerly 26th Street) and turn left. Drive under the walkway overpass to the stoplight on Speedway and turn right. Park on the west side of Speedway in the spots marked F87.
Directions on I-35 N. coming from the south
Take Exit 235A University of Texas/MLK/15th Street. Take a left onto MLK Blvd. Immediately veer right onto Red River. Continue to the stoplight at Dean Keeton (formerly 26th Street) and turn left. Drive under the walkway overpass to the stoplight on Speedway and turn right. Park on the west side of Speedway in the spots marked F87.
(2) Come On In!
Our research center is located on the first floor of the Seay Building — come on in! Entering through the middle set of double doors on the west side of Speedway will bring you into the CRC lobby. Your child is welcome to play here as you wait for your appointment to begin.
(3) Research Overview
Once inside, a research assistant will tell you a bit about our center as well as the specific study your child is participating in. Afterward, you will fill out a couple of quick forms.
(4) The Study
Then we’ll go to another room and the study will begin! Your child will sit across from a research assistant and play a game, listen to a story, or be asked to answer some questions. You are welcome to observe the entirety of your child’s session in one of our adjacent observation rooms.
(5) After Your Appointment
After the study is over, we’ll send you off with a small toy for your child as an expression of our gratitude. We are so thankful for your time – we couldn’t conduct our research without you!
