We use several instruments to assess both physiological arousal and to screen eligible participants for our studies. For our ongoing drug administration studies, all participants are screened using two portable electrocardiogram devices.

Handheld ECG
The HeartCheck™ Pen
The HeartCheck™ Pen is a handheld device used to assess cardiac rhythm, particularly arrhythmia. This handheld ECG device is the only device of its kind cleared by the FDA for consumer “OTC” use that allows the ECG wave form to been seen and replayed. For more information about the HeartCheck™ PEN, please refer to the HeartCheck Pen Brochure.

Heart Rhythm Monitor
HeartCheck™ Handheld ECG Monitor
The HeartCheck™ Handheld ECG Monitor is a handheld, portable and FDA-cleared ECG device that is most commonly used in clinic settings. For more information about the HeartCheck™ Handheld EGG Monitor, please refer to the HeartCheck Rhythm Monitor Brochure.

All ECGs recorded from either the HeartCheck™ PEN or the HeartCheck™ Handheld ECG Monitor are single lead. Data is imported from the HeartCheck™ devices to the ECG File Management Software, GEMS™ Home, which is developed by CardioComm Solutions Inc. Once imported, individual recordings from our studies are interpreted by a certified physician.
