The Cognition and Communication Lab
The Cognition and Communication Lab at the University of Texas investigates how people speak and related cognitive processes. Past and current research focuses on the timing of planning of spoken language, factors behind lexical access, the generation and learning of proper names for people, and the role of gesture and metaphor in language. The lab houses a team of graduate and undergraduate students from the Departments of Psychology, Communication Sciences and Disorders and Linguistics under the direction of Professor Zenzi M. Griffin.
We also maintain ties with several labs outside the University, including those with the New School for Social Development, Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics, and Rice University.
