Frequently Asked Questions

How can I get involved?

Thank you for your interest in participating in our studies! Currently, we are not recruiting new participants. However, If you would like to hear about future study opportunities with one of our affiliated labs at the UT Children’s Research Center—please fill out the following secure, online form: UT Children’s Research Center Sign-up Form.

This form will add you and your child’s information into the UT Children’s Research Center database. If your child becomes eligible for a study with a lab in the Children’s Research Center, you will be contacted.

What does participating in a study entail?

Participating in a study involves one or multiple visits to our lab in the UT Children’s Research Center on the University of Texas campus. Sessions generally last about 15-45 minutes, depending on the particular study. In a typical study, your child may be asked to look at pictures of objects, or play with toys with the experimenter. Then we may play games to see how well they remember what they’ve learned. A common factor among all our studies is that they are designed to be fun and engaging for the kids.

What are the benefits of participating in a study?

Having your child participate in a study is a great chance for you and your child to experience and play in a safe environment with new people together. Parents typically enjoy seeing their child interact in this new setting. In addition, we provide compensation for our studies, and your child will receive a small gift for their participation. Finally, you get the opportunity to contribute to important research on child development.
